Terms of service

Effective 2026-10-14

What Lookover does, what you’re paying for, and the choices you keep.

Terms of ServicePrivacy PolicyText Message TermsHealth Data Privacy

These terms govern Lookover, operated by Webspin, LLC (“we,” “us”). Our privacy policy describes data handling, and our text message terms apply to texting. Visiting this website alone does not start a subscription or accept these terms.

How you accept these terms

You accept these terms by doing one of the following. Each is recorded, with the date and the version of the terms in force, before Lookover reads anything of yours.

  • Starting a household on the website or in the app and ticking the box that says you agree.
  • Paying for a subscription, where Lookover’s checkout asks you to agree to these terms and, separately, to the automatic renewal before you pay.
  • Accepting an invitation to a household and ticking the box that says you agree.
  • Confirming that you want weekly summaries and alerts from someone’s household, where the confirmation page says that confirming accepts these terms.
  • Agreeing to document processing on the website, or sending your first document or question in the app where the permission box says that you accept these terms.
  • Replying YES to Lookover’s text or email asking for your permission, or agreeing on the page that email links to. The message and the page say this also accepts these terms.

If you do not agree, do none of these, and nothing of yours is read. Where Lookover asks for your permission to read what you send, it also asks, in a separate box, for your consent to collecting and using health information, as our health data privacy notice describes. Someone who sets up Lookover for a family member does not accept these terms on that person’s behalf; the family member accepts them in their own way above.

Where Lookover is available

New accounts and new household invitations are currently for people who live in the United States. Confirm your own residence when registering or accepting an invitation. Supported languages do not change this availability. Anyone can read our public pages and contact support from anywhere. Existing customers can still sign in to manage their account, cancel a subscription, or exercise their privacy choices while outside the United States.

What the service does

Lookover explains documents, photos, letters, bills, emails, texts and screenshots you choose to send. Explanations, follow-up replies and translations are produced automatically by software, without a person reviewing them first; if you ask, Lookover says so and tells you how to reach a person. The service can keep a record, identify dates for reminders, answer follow-up questions, flag warning signs and send summaries to the people authorized on your account. Routine material may be summarized as a count instead of receiving a detailed explanation.

Lookover does not pay bills, transfer money, contact the sender, file documents, change services or take action on the matters you submit. Subscription billing, account administration and messages from Lookover are separate from acting on your documents.

Translations are produced automatically. They can contain errors and are not certified translations. Check important details against the original. If translation is unavailable, we may send the original English message with a notice in your selected language.

You can choose from supported languages for the interface and new messages. Different household members can use different languages. Changing your language does not translate every saved document again. When a saved explanation is available in your selected language, we show it; otherwise we show its English version and offer a translation where available. The policies presented for acceptance are in English.

Understand the limits

  • Check important details. Explanations can be incomplete or wrong. Lookover cannot verify a sender’s identity, prove a message is genuine, determine that a charge is fair, or guarantee that a deadline was found. Confirm important information through an independent contact you trust.
  • Keep your originals. Lookover is not your permanent document archive or an official record. Keep the documents you may need, and track important deadlines yourself.
  • Use qualified help when needed. Explanations are not medical, legal, tax, financial or other professional advice. Lookover is not a law firm, and it is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney, a doctor or another professional. No professional or fiduciary relationship is created. Do not use Lookover for emergencies, diagnosis, treatment decisions or matters requiring an immediate response. Contact emergency services when appropriate.
  • Delivery is not guaranteed. Processing, reminders and replies may be delayed, unavailable, filtered or undelivered. A reminder is not confirmation that you received it or that the matter was handled.

Your account and family sharing

You must be at least 18 and able to enter an agreement to open an account. Use accurate contact details you control and protect your email, phone and sign-in links. Tell us if a number changes or you suspect unauthorized access. Texting is available only for U.S. mobile numbers, including U.S. territories.

Each household, free or subscribed, holds up to three people, counting the person managing it. Verified addresses belonging to the same person share one place. Sending documents, reading shared explanations and receiving summaries are separate choices within that membership. Pending invitations count toward the limit. Only submit information you have the right to share. When you send a document about someone else, such as a parent’s medical bill, you confirm that they have given you permission or that you have other legal authority to act for them, such as a power of attorney, guardianship or the role of executor; Lookover does not check it. A person named in a document who is not a member can ask us to delete their information. Before adding another adult, obtain their permission to send an invitation; being a relative does not authorize you to consent for them. They must complete Lookover’s own confirmation. Contact us before attempting to use the service for someone who cannot personally consent; we do not automatically accept a claimed power of attorney.

Collection and explanation are separate from optional family sharing. A sender chooses each named person in People & sharing in their Lookover account. This covers earlier and new documents, explanations and extracted details, including health or financial information. Summary recipients must also accept their invitation. Use those same controls to stop sharing with one person or everyone. The account holder always has access to their own records. Disconnecting a sending address stops new documents from it and ends the sharing of what it sent; those documents stay for the person who sent them. Removing a summary recipient stops future summaries and alerts to them. When a person leaves a household, is removed, or deletes their account, the documents they sent there are deleted after 30 days. Documents they shared stay for the people they shared them with, unless the person chooses to delete them when leaving or deleting their account; a person removed by the manager does not make that choice, and what they shared stays. Nothing recalls copies already delivered. Contact us about deletion. The person who purchased the subscription remains responsible for its charges, even if household management is transferred.

One account can belong to several households. Joining an existing household does not require a separate subscription. Each subscribed household has its own plan; eligible new users can first try a free starter household. Managing a household does not grant access to another person’s private documents.

Three free documents

Each verified person may start one household with three free document explanations, shared across its members, devices and sending channels. No payment method is required, and using this allowance never starts a subscription. Completed explanations count once; failed processing and retries do not use additional documents. A free household also includes ten other messages, such as follow-up questions, shared across text, email, the website and the app. Your saved explanations remain accessible after the allowance is used, subject to your deletion choices and our retention policy. A household that returns to free after its subscription ends does not receive a new free allowance. Multiple accounts must not be used to evade limits.

Every household, including a paid one, has a daily limit on documents and on other messages, currently 30 and 40 a day, to keep the service available for everyone. We also limit daily processing for each household and across the service. When a processing limit is reached, a document waits and is explained when capacity returns. If that takes longer than six hours, or the document can no longer be read in the meantime (for example, because its original was deleted under your retention setting), we tell you it could not be explained and ask you to send it again. A question sent by text or email at such a time is answered with a notice. A question that ends without an answer through no fault of yours, for example because of such a limit, a failure on our side or the document becoming unavailable, does not use a free message, on the website, in the app, by text or by email.

Price and automatic renewal

The standard subscription is $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, plus applicable tax. It renews automatically at the selected interval until canceled. Any different promotional terms must be shown before you agree to them.

For website purchases, the trial is for a first subscription only: a person who has paid for, or started a trial of, any Lookover subscription before, on the website or through Apple or Google, or a household that had any subscription, starts without one. It lasts 7 days and requires a payment method. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your payment method is charged for the selected plan and then at each renewal.

Before you pay, Lookover’s checkout shows the price, how often you will be charged, when charging starts, that the subscription renews until you cancel, how to cancel online, that canceling during a trial avoids any charge, and that the price can change with at least 30 days’ notice. You agree to those automatic-renewal terms by ticking a separate box, and you authorize these recurring charges when you complete checkout. We keep a record of that agreement and the wording you were shown. Stripe processes payments; your bank may show a temporary payment-method verification authorization.

You can switch a website subscription between monthly and yearly with Change billing frequency on the Billing & plan page. The switch takes effect at once and starts a new billing period: the difference is prorated, any amount due is charged immediately, and unused paid time becomes credit toward future charges, not a cash refund. A running trial continues.

We send billing information by email. For a subscription bought on the website, we email the person who pays: a confirmation when the subscription starts, with the price, the renewal interval and how to cancel; a reminder three to four days before a trial ends; a reminder about 30 days before a yearly renewal, with the price that renewal will charge; once a year for a monthly plan, a reminder of the plan and its price; and a confirmation when a cancellation is scheduled. Notices about a failed payment or an ended subscription also go to the person managing the household when that is someone else.

For a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, we also email the person who bought it, when we have an email address for them: a confirmation after the purchase, with the plan, how it renews, when the next charge or the end of a trial falls and how to turn renewal off in the store; and a reminder about 30 days before a yearly renewal, or once a year for a monthly plan. These give the renewal price the store states, or say that the store shows it. When such a subscription ends, the notice also goes to the person managing the household, again when we have an email address for them. Apple and Google send their own receipts, trial reminders and price-change notices for purchases made through them.

If our reminder before a yearly renewal is sent fewer than 25 days before the renewal, or not at all, the renewal still goes ahead, and the person who pays can ask for a full refund of that renewal from Billing in their account within 30 days of the charge. Asking ends the subscription at once, and the household returns to the free plan.

If we change the price of a website subscription, we email the person who pays between 30 and 45 days before the first renewal at the new price, and show the change on the Billing & plan page. The new price applies only from that renewal; a period you already paid for never costs more, and you can cancel before then so that nothing more is charged. Apple and Google run their own price-change notices for purchases made through them.

For an App Store or Google Play purchase, the store checkout shows the price, renewal interval and any trial you are eligible for. Those terms may differ from the website. The store processes payment and manages renewals; Lookover verifies the purchase to connect it to your household. Joining someone else’s household does not require another purchase. Use the same Lookover account across the website and app.

If a household ends up paid for twice, or a website payment cannot be applied to a household (for example, because the household was closed or you no longer manage it), we cancel the extra website subscription and refund it: the unused part, or all of it if it never paid for the household. We cannot refund Apple or Google purchases; use the store’s refund process.

How to cancel

  • From your account: on the website, open the household’s Settings, then Billing & plan, then Manage subscription. In the app, the subscriptions page in your account shows who bills you and how to manage it. A purchase made through the App Store or Google Play is canceled in that store. A cancellation scheduled for the end of a paid period keeps access until the effective end date shown there. Cancel during the trial before its end to avoid the first charge.
  • Texting and billing are separate: STOP, or CANCEL by text, stops texts to that number. It does not cancel a subscription, change the plan, stop email service or delete account data. To cancel recurring charges, use the subscription settings for the provider shown on your Billing & plan page.
  • By closing a household: the Close this household option ends that household’s service immediately and starts its content-deletion process. Your account and other households stay available. If Apple or Google manages the subscription, cancel it in the store first; deleting app data or your account does not cancel store charges.
  • By email: request cancellation at support@lookoverit.com. We may verify that you control the account. Contact us if you cannot access the account or do not receive confirmation.

Closing a household with Close this household ends its service immediately. For a subscription bought on the website, we refund the unused part of the period you paid for to your payment method. Within 14 days of a household’s first website payment, if you are the person who paid, Close this household first offers you the full refund of that payment described under Refunds; taking it returns the household to the free plan, which can then still be closed. If the payment provider does not confirm a refund automatically, the subscription stops charging, we tell you the refund is being checked, and our support team follows up by email. Apple and Google purchases follow the store’s refund rules. Canceling future renewals instead keeps access until the paid period ends and does not create a refund. The person managing a household can reopen it within 30 days of closing it if it was free, or if its Apple or Google subscription period is still running; reopening any other closed household, including one closed during a website trial, needs a new subscription, without a trial. Replying START does not restart a canceled paid subscription or authorize a new charge.

Refunds

First payment. If you change your mind after a household’s first website subscription payment, the person who paid can ask for a full refund of that payment within 14 days of it, from Billing in their Lookover account on the website or in the app, or from Close this household. Each household can have this refund once. Asking for it ends the subscription at once; the household returns to the free plan, keeps its saved explanations, and does not receive a new free allowance. It does not apply during a free trial (nothing has been charged), to renewal charges, or to a household whose first payment was made through Apple or Google.

Late renewal reminder. A yearly renewal whose reminder was late can be refunded in full on request within 30 days of the charge, as described under Price and automatic renewal.

If you cannot use Billing, email support@lookoverit.com within the same period. Refunds or other remedies required by law remain available. Tell us promptly about a billing error or an unauthorized charge; these terms do not limit your right to dispute it with your payment provider. If you dispute a website charge, the subscription that made it is set to end at the end of its current period and does not renew. For store purchases, use the store’s refund request process; contact us if you need help identifying the purchase.

Text messages

If you set up texting, Lookover sends service texts about what you send, reminders, weekly summaries you chose and account notices. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to stop texts. STOP also stops Lookover reading what that number sends; it does not cancel a subscription or change who you share with. Reminders and summaries are sent between 8 am and 8 pm local time. Texting is optional and never a condition of purchase. The text message terms describe the program in full.

Your content

You retain any rights you have in submitted content. You authorize us and our service providers to process, store and transmit it as needed to provide the requested service, protect the service and meet legal obligations, as described in the privacy policy. This permission includes generating explanations and sharing them with the people authorized on your account. It does not grant ownership of your documents or permission to sell them for advertising.

We do not use your documents to train general-purpose systems without a separate opt-in. Corrections and stored context can be used to improve explanations for your account. Provider processing, retention and authorized staff access are described in the privacy policy. Automated explanations do not mean human access is impossible.

When a household is closed, or a subscription that began at checkout ends, deletion of the household’s content is scheduled 30 days later. A household that began on the free plan, or whose subscription ended through one of the refunds above, returns to the free plan instead and keeps its saved records. Original-document retention may expire sooner. Backups, required business records and other retention exceptions are explained in the privacy policy. Download anything you need before ending access.

Acceptable use and service changes

Do not use Lookover for unlawful activity, harassment, impersonation, unauthorized surveillance, collecting other people’s data without permission, attacks on the service or evading access controls. Do not send passwords, verification codes, complete payment-card details or other secrets that are unnecessary for an explanation. Cover unnecessary identifiers before photographing a document.

We may apply processing limits or suspend access where reasonably needed to prevent abuse, address security concerns, comply with law or handle nonpayment. If we end a paid service for our convenience, we will refund unused prepaid service. We may change features, but will notify you of a material reduction affecting a paid subscription and explain your cancellation options.

Content restrictions and review

Do not submit pornographic or sexually explicit content, child sexual abuse material, instructions for making weapons or carrying out violence, or hate or harassment that you are using the service to deliver. These restrictions do not prevent you from asking for an explanation of legitimate correspondence you received, including threatening letters, medical and sexual-health records, court notices or firearm-license paperwork.

Automated checks can be wrong. We may hold an item without explaining it, refuse it, or pause a sending address after three refusals within 30 days. Before a refusal counts against a sending address, either a second automated check or a staff reviewer must agree; when the second check does not agree, or cannot be completed, the item is held for staff review instead. Contact support if you believe a decision is mistaken. Ordinary reviews do not give staff access to original documents in the console. The privacy policy explains safety records, deletion and legal-preservation exceptions. A refusal or sending-address pause does not itself cancel your subscription.

If we close a paid household for misuse, we provide a prorated refund of unused prepaid service, subject to the purchase provider's refund process and applicable law. This is separate from a temporary sending-address pause. Contact support for help with a refund or to challenge a closure.

Deleting your account during such a closure does not stop the closure. A required closure or refund notice may still be sent to the address we kept for it, as the privacy policy describes.

Responsibility and consumer rights

Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NONINFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE OR CORRECT RESULTS IN EVERY CASE.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, neither party is responsible to the other for indirect or consequential losses arising from the service. Our aggregate liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not exclude liability for our fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or anything the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Nothing here waives mandatory consumer rights, statutory remedies or rights concerning personal information.

Changes, disputes and contact

We announce new terms at least 30 days before they take effect: by email to everyone with an email address on Lookover, and by text to a confirmed number of anyone without one. Each version is published at its own dated address. From the effective date, we ask you to accept the new terms before you continue to use the signed-in website or app. Until you do, Lookover does not read documents or messages you send by email or text. When you send something, a number or address that gave permission by replying YES or through an emailed link is asked to confirm again, and anyone else is told to review the new terms in their account; either message is sent at most once a week. You can still access your acceptance history, account data and subscription management, and the person who pays can cancel. Changes do not retroactively remove rights concerning an existing dispute. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions still apply.

Texas law governs except where the mandatory law of your residence provides otherwise. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class proceedings, small-claims rights or access to a regulator. Please contact us first if something is wrong so we can try to resolve it; doing so is not a condition of exercising your legal rights.

If Lookover is transferred to a successor, applicable privacy commitments continue and any notices or consents required by law still apply. A business transfer is not permission to transfer text-message consent for unrelated marketing.
